just checking in to tell you how I'm getting on a year after diagnosis. I had my 3-monthly blood test to check my HbA1c , cholesterol, etc, and as its almost exactly a year since diagnosis.
The 1st results I had ( which I've just found I posted on this forum), were HbA1c @ 6.2 %, and the cholesterol was 4.4 ( Dec 2008) . Yesterday, I was told I was @ 5.6 % , with cholesterol @ 4.6 . The GP had attached the note "Excellent diabetic control!", which I was chuffed to bits with !
I have also gone from 17.5 stone to 14.5 stone in the same period, mostly by eating and drinking less/differently (Michelob ultra instead of Grolsch ) , but generally cutting down on the carbs and paying more attention to what I eat.
So, if I can keep this up for the next 30 - 40 years, I should be fine !
