Hi All,
Have been lurking for a while, just wanted to thank those who post about T2 and low carb as you have all really helped me! Have also been reading Bernstein and Briffa; also doing lots of testing (on prescription - very lucky!). I keep thinking i should start posting but my questions always seem to have been answered already. Can't remember when I last ate potato - really don't want such things at all now!

Diagnosed end of May, hba1c 98. Most recent hba1c results this morning 34!!! Made up with that, I pretty much flew to work! Also lost over 4stone and feel great, clear headed and loads of energy.

Meds - Started on gliclazide, after a couple of months they added metformin too but wanted me to stay on the gliclazide as well, I'd read about it possibly pushing your beta cells too hard so asked to try without and got rid of the gliclazide without significant bg change. Am now on only 1000mg of metformin when they thought I'd need 2000. Also take some supplements which I think help.

The only slight negative this morning was that my bp had not really reduced, was told it was slightly high in may (can't remember the numbers). It was 138/90 today, not sure how bad this is? Have not exercised much in last couple of weeks due to a cold so that may have affected it? DN happy to ignore it and see if any improvement when I see her in the spring, thought it maybe genetic, suggested eating less salt (i do like salt). Any tips for reducing it anyone?

Sorry to go on so long, thanks again for all the great advice given on here!

This all sounds really good keep it up. I use lo-salt which also helps for potassium, and given a little more time your bp will probably improve too. Try to keep up daily exercise - it really does help.

Great numbers, well done.

With regard to your blood pressure, reducing salt would be a good start as would exercise if you can manage it.

Though sometimes it can raise a little with the stress of visiting the dos/nurse.
