Just asking for tips / advice really

Am T2 on metformin x 2000mg with 0.6ml Victoza and due to being on high dose of Preds am on Insulin x 18mls per day ( increasing as needs must )

Recently had some eyesight issues and possible diagnosis of Polymyalgia as well as suffering with Meralgia Paraesthetica

Anyhow, am reading and learning and baking and want to lose weight to gain better BG controls and obviously health benefits

My latest HbA1c was 48....

Reading and researching , am reminded that I should also lower my Cholesterol which I think was 4.1

Am I going to be able to do this successfully working on a LCHF way of eating and what should a reasonable acceptable weight loss should I be looking at weekly?
Am not silly, thinking I can lose 8 pounds a week but trying to seek advice on how to do this with out huge amounts of time spent working out figures / percentages and so on which will stress me out entirely, me thinks..

Appreciate any help. Thanks

A total cholesterol figure of 4.1 is fine, here are the target cholesterol levels for people with diabetes:

  • Your total cholesterol level should be below 4.0mmol/l.
  • LDL levels should be less than 2.0mmol/l.
  • HDL levels should be 1.0mmol/l or above in men and 1.2mmol/l or above in women.
  • Triglyceride levels should be 1.7mmol/l or less.

oops got my figures wrong...duh

Cholesterol: 5.5
Trigs: 2.9
HDL: 1.2
LDL: 3.0
Serum Cholesterol: 4.6

Hi @pms543 I have my best bg levels and weight loss when I follow this at 800-1000 cals a day https://thebloodsugardiet.com/the-low-carb-plan/

It is a flexible guide so you can adapt it to suit your gluten free, low carb needs. Clean eating, tasty food, lots of water.

Avocado, thanks for the info, I quite like the idea of attempting this for the initial kick I need.
Is there a link on this forum to those already doing this diet?

I haven't seen any threads here dedicated to this way of eating. There is a forum on that link I gave you with lots of ideas. I am probably not allowed to say that lol

8 lbs a week is a tad excessive as an ongoing weight loss target.

It's taken me 4 years to lose 6.5 stone, but I've kept it off and no loose skin. Steady and consistent, with LCHF, exercise and even intermittent fasting will go a long way:)
