hi

got a blood test tomorrow for cholesterol. do you think with this massive increase of fat it will make my cholestrol reading much higher?

not even in the short term. i thought i read that it can make it go high in the first instance. i dont care its just my doc is hell bent on getting me on statins and i do not want them

Mine initially came down from 8 to 6.2 on LCHF then stayed at 6.2. Doc wanted me to have statins when it didn't come down further but my understanding is that it's ok to have cholesterol between 4-7 so I said no to statins this time. Sure he ll try persuading me again though. It's a tricky one.

I have heard of people whose cholesterol have risen slightly on LCHF but in those cases it is mainly the HDL that has gone up and that is good stuff. I have also heard people say cholesterol can go up because of your own fat metabolism working overtime when you loose a lot of weight in a short time on LCHF. I don't know. My cholesterol is close to perfect with very low triglycerides and HDL at 2.

We are all different, my LDL has gone from 2 to 2.7 I have been on the LCHF but had to cut the fats in the last two weeks due to gall bladder problems,I will be intrested to know how you get on.
Good luck

i will let you know the results. im not really sure what it should be tho. i dont really know what a good result would be

Thant's good @Mike D

These are mine after a low carb high fat diet

Your Total Cholesterol of 5.50 is BORDERLINE
Your LDL of 3.03 is NEAR OPTIMAL
Your HDL of 2.2 is OPTIMAL

Your Triglyceride level of 0.59 is NORMAL
[paste:font size="4"]RATIOS:

Your Total Cholesterol/HDL ratio is: 2.50 - (preferably under 5.0, ideally under 3.5) IDEAL[/paste:font]
Your HDL/LDL ratio is: 0.726 - (preferably over 0.3, ideally over 0.4) IDEAL
Your triglycerides/HDL ratio is: 0.614 - (preferably under 4, ideally under 2) IDEAL

Yep, it's really good info BT :)

Hi Turvell, yep, there's room for improvement. They can be turned around very quickly. I went from bad (REALLY bad) to excellent on all readings in twelve weeks.

Mike
