Well I was feeling pretty good having lost 3 stone 10lbs but daughter has just taken a piccie of me from the side holding one of our new pets (2 rats who are very cute, very gentle and very loving which is perfect for our kids) from the side and I guess it must be just an unflattering angle4 1/2 stone, but I intend to give the Newcastle Diet a try next week as well, but probably won't stay on for the 8 weeks.
I plan 4 weeks, or less depending on weight loss.
Can't really see 'starvation mode',or not being in 'winter mode' as any issue, as it didn't cause me any problem when I was portion controlled/calorie restricted before.
I have to say though, losing 4 1/2 stone, of unwanted insulation, it does seem colder at first.
I don't think I'd be wanting it back purely for that reason though..

As soon as I get a close up then yes as piccies mostly have girls on. They are very lovely though! Kids love them to bits and Mr Scandi and I are quite taken with them too. Unfortunately so is the cat so we have to keep the door closed if we're not in.Can we have pics? In a new thread, to avoid derailing this one?
Of the rats! Not your 'unflattering angle'!!!
(I kept rats for about 10 years. Best EVER pet. My maternal instincts have just gone on high alert!)
Rarely do we have a thread other than LCHF that gets so many people riled up and posting their views on the diet. Douglas seems to be one of the very few who is brave enough to say that he does something different to LCHF so good for him. Maybe it is time for those who do follow different diets but keep quiet about it to feel they can come out of the closet and tell us about them without being knocked back as doing something wrong. It seems we are only interested in what people have to say about their diet as long as it is LCHF and any other ways are dismissed as not being worth doing or listening to Do we think that is the way the forum should be no one should feel they can't say what they are doing
annie that is not the case. Yes, lots of people do eat lchf but most of us are happy to live and let live. @sanguine has made that point in this thread and so have I. It pleases me when someone gets control of their weight and bs or whatever it is they need to get control of. @douglas99 and I exchange posts fairly regularly and we have completely different ways of doing things yet he always encourages me and I encourage him. I have exchanged posts with @Kat100 who doesn't eat the same as me either but is extremely kind and supportive. If I feel someone posts something which is uninformed or unbalanced then I will challenge them as indeed I would expect someone to challenge me if I did/do the same.Rarely do we have a thread other than LCHF that gets so many people riled up and posting their views on the diet. I'm fine if I look in the mirror front ways on. But from the side? You mustn't think like that!, the weight loss you have achieved is unbelievable! pictures always add weight to people and the angle excetera, your doing fantastically well!!! very impressive, be nothing but proud!
I'm getting there - just a bit to go! Size 16 jeans are now falling down without a belt! Have got a sz 14 too but they fit like sz 16. Don't think I'll make my 11 stone target by Christmas as weight loss plateaus but still look a **** sight better and it is good to buy stuff from the shops again.Scandi - In my experience, it takes our bodies a little while to catch up with our weight loss. In other words, if you were to stop losing weight now, your body shape would continue to modify for a little while afterwards.
I seem to have managed to halt my weight loss now, but I am certainly thinner than when I came home; which will be a topic of tense discussion when my OH gets here. Thankfully, the scales there have a memory which will help with my argument.
Thank you! I'm going to have a look as it would be nice to know one way or another. She generally now eats lchf but has a packet of crisps and a biscuit in her lunch box.Scandichic
I am sorry if this response is slightly of topic but your daughter does not need to have excessive starchy carbs before testing. There is guidance on how much she needs to have in order to have a meaningful blood test for diagnosis. Search on the coeliac society website where you will find lots of information on diagnosis and lots of advice if you prefer to keep her away from wheat based goods.
Good Luck and I hope your daughter keeps well.

I never trust them, in a photo I look like a bald fat 60 yr old..obviously this isn't true..come to think of it, I don't trust mirrors eitherWell I was feeling pretty good having lost 3 stone 10lbs but daughter has just taken a piccie of me from the side holding one of our new pets (2 rats who are very cute, very gentle and very loving which is perfect for our kids) from the side and I guess it must be just an unflattering anglestill got 1 stone 5 to get to original goal but probably need to make that 2 stone 5
I love our mirror as it makes people look thinner than reality. Marks and Spencer's mirror, on the other hand, makes me look like I ought to get a part in the hobbit.I never trust them, in a photo I look like a bald fat 60 yr old..obviously this isn't true..come to think of it, I don't trust mirrors either
Hi @Scandichic ...I agree with that we don't eat the same , but we do over lap on some foods yummie ..the chocolate !!!!..I have yet to make your mug cake ...annie that is not the case. I'm not sure if this is on track but Izzy's first post in the thread starts
Denise Minger a (paleo blogger with absolutely no qualification but a lot of influence in the Paleo community for her tearing apart of the China study puts up a Devils Advocate account) describes here that there have been very good recorded results in respect to both the control of diabetes and CVD and kidney problems with the complete opposite to HFLC ie very low fat diets (10% fat) so necessarily very high carb diets . Personally, I've recently come across many people who eat in this way and are just as vociferous as those who espouse HFLC
. I would myself find this sort of diet hard, I don't eat like this and eat considerably more fat but I also would not like to eat LCHF if that meant 70%+ fat.. My own diet is far more influenced by a Med diet so maybe I just sit in the middle!
I offer it as food for thought no more, you don't even have to comment . But just consider, what would happen if someone suggested this on an opening thread as the way to go, what the reactions would be, would they stay here on this forum or go elsewhere?

My point Scandichic is that although as you say some members do say they have a different way of doing it and most members are very kind and supportive of everyone and that is good but some members have had the experience of getting upsetting and even some really nasty responses when they have said they do something different to LCHF. What kind of people attack someone just because they are doing something different to them is that the sort of forum we want Usually it is the low fat diet that gets the most negative messages and some here cannot grasp the concept that some people simply do not like or want to eat fat but if it works for them that is all that matters and we should be happy for them No one should be attacked for doing a diet in a different way to others they should be able to talk freely about it on here and we should respect them... as you say live and let live
