LCHF without Gall Bladder

I am interested in the idea of a LCHF diet but am worried that this will present problems for me including indigestion, when it comes to digesting fattier foods.

There seems to be a lot of emphasis on the HF part of LCHF. I assume this is because a lot of people want to make up for the loss of calories following low carb. I wanted to lose weight anyway and I have gall stones, so low fat is desirable. The 2 slices of toast (breakfast), 2 bread rolls (lunch) and a baked potato or rice or pasta (dinner) amounted to 700 calories, so weight loss was achieved . . . . . for a while.

Perhaps think more LCLF rather than LCHF.

LCLF - I think that is what they recently recommended to me at the Doctor’s surgery but at that time it was all too much to take in ( I was going to say digest ) with no chance to discuss or dwell on it. I will have to get back with them and double check what they said.

But how did you cope with all the carb related sugar input?

I’m confused by your comments. We’re discussing fat because the op was concerned about fats and lack of gallbladder. And they are an important consideration of low carb eating. LCLF tends to lead to hunger for many and giving it up as unsustainable. Finding your own personal balance is important though..
How is that menu low carb in any way? That looks like HCLF aka the eatwell plate. Calories have nothing to do with the discussion as far as gallbladders are concerned.

That looks like HCLF aka the eatwell plate.

That's what I ate pre low carb, I was pointing out how many calories were contained in what is as you suggest the eatwell plate that we might all have adhered to albeit inadvertently.

If high fat is going to be an issue because of no gall bladder then I'm suggesting to forget the HF bit.

But how did you cope with all the carb related sugar input?

It looks like I missed the bit that should have said I removed the bread, rolls, spud to go low carb. So I no longer eat those. I was demonstrating how many calories were in the carbs I was eating which closely follows the eatwell plate.

I no longer eat more than 50 gms carb a day and I haven't replaced the calories with fat so I'm suggesting low fat might not be bad such a bad thing. When I up my fat content which I've done a couple of times with more red meat, cream and full cream yogurt, my total cholesterol goes up so for me, another good reason to avoid the HF bit.

I know that many people follow LCHF and I'm pleased for them. I can't and I dion't it should be some sort of hard and fast rule. Eat what's best, whatever it is.

Thanks for clarifying. As you say lclf can work but it does have the potential for hunger and lack of energy. How much fat is very personal depending on lots of factors eg body fat to be lost or retained, exercise, digestive issues etc.

Thanks for clarifying.

I was going to take it easy, not for the reason you gave, but you have given me another reason to approach LCHF gently. So I have had Brie and bacon today but with carbs ( slower release variety ) and will continue on step by step. I will order a meter on Monday along with a blood pressure monitor for Hypertension.

If high fat is going to be an issue because of no gall bladder then I'm suggesting to forget the HF bit.

Thanks. I find that I do okay most of the time but overindulging in fat can be an issue. So maybe erring towards but not completely and utterly high fat...
