The conclusions of the paper are that high LDL cholesterol is beneficial for survival of heart attacks, heart failure, cancer and other major causes of death. The higher your LDL, the better your chances, just the opposite of what we have been told for years.
A side-note is that while statins are beneficial for people who have already had a heart attack, it is thought that is not because they lower LDL, but some other, unknown, reason.
