Hi folks, just to say that i had the worst hypo i've had since being diagnosed. Been a bit rough for a couple of weeks but always with high BS levels. Last Friday i had been particularly ill and in the afternoon i had a reading of 1.8. I know this isn't incrdibly low but it just affected me so badly. Alledgedly an hour after i blacked out i woke up in A&E. After a lot of argueing and deliberation, i won, and left to go home (they wanted to keep me in hospital). I'ts just as the title of the thread says it "FRIGHTENED ME TO DEATH" literally folks. Still rough today and at my GP'S tonight so i'll let you know how i get on. Thank you all for listening !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards

Hazey

Hi Hazey,
I just wanted to say that I think that 1.8 seems very low to me, and that just recently had a 2.9 - a new low for me which was equally scary for me. To black out is my worst nightmare :( I do hope you are feeling better now.

Sorry you had such a nasty experience. It may be that the speed and amount of the fall as much as the BG level itself that caused it to be such a bad hypo. If you haven't already got one, when you go to the doctors ask for a prescription for a glucagen kit. Just in case he doesn't know what one is print this off and show him ( he should do but who knows with some GPs)

I can understand that you were very frightened. What I try to remember ( to reassure myself) is that if you pass out, eventually your liver will release sufficient glucose to raise your levels. A glucogan kit is just a more efficient way of doing it.
[ caveat. ...as long as its not busy with alcohol, or you've had lots of hypos in the last few days or you haven't been eating properly]

I hope your head doesn't feel to dreadful,
P

i know how u feel it is frightening, hope u feel better now and good luck at the drs :D

Sorry you have had such a dreadful experience. This happened to me and I ended up in hospital

Dropped to 2.3 - paramedics couldn't get my level up, ended up in A&E on a drip

It does make you feel dreadful and also knocked my confidence for a few weeks, didn't want to go anywhwere in case it happened again

These feelings will pass, thinking about you and hope you get better soon

I'm glad you've survived with nothing worse.

I am glad you are ok now and it is not surprising that this has made you feel nervous. Being ill can do all sorts to bg levels. All you can do is test and have foods etc to raise your bg quickly.
