In recent days I have noticed numbness on my left foot...on the heel. My right leg has a severe pain in the heel...like I stood on a nail. I am Type 2 and take Lantus & Novorapid with Metformin. Any suggestions on relieving the pain?20200509_062046.jpg

Hi @Bigboy1967

Am I understanding correctly that reading in the photo is ketones? If so, I’d be on the phone to 111 immediately.

I am trying to read the manual for this new meter to see what normal readings sgould be

What is your blood glucose level, have you checked?

Have you started a very low carb or carb free diet?

13.9 is blood glucose...way to high...I am going to take some Novorapid and go for a walk...View attachment 41193

Hi @Bigboy1967

Perhaps you think that we are being alarmist but please take note that high glucose levels AND high ketones together are VERY bad.

This can lead to a condition called Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) and can easily end up with you getting blue lighted to hospital.

Please, BEFORE you go for a walk, call 111 and ask for advice.

One thing none of us needs right now is an extended stay in a Covid ridden hospital ward.

I think it's one of those meters telling you to test for ketones when your bg is over 15, not a ketone meter.

Still, I think you'd best see your doctor for the pain in your feet and ask help from your diabetes nurse with the high numbers you're seeing.
Wish you all the best, @Bigboy1967 !

Good point! But the GlucoRX does both depending on which strips you use.

@Bigboy1967 - do have different types of test strips, or just 1 type?
