I found it very hard to walk down the stairs and lift my arms to get my insulin both arms and legs felt very heavy. Anyone know why this has started to happen. i do try to control my diabetes but have just changed jobs and my usal rutine has changed a lot.thanks

Hi, welcome to the forum,
When you say your sugar levels are high, how high are we talking? Is your diabetes well controlled, and most importantly what insulin are you on? Sorry that's a lot of questions, but it could help establish the cause of your ailments.

my diabetes is fairley well cotrolled but my job has just changed so my meals are at a different time to what im used to which has caused me problems. my suger levels were in there 20s i am on novorapid three times a day and levemir once a day i hope this helps

Hi again,
The reason I asked what insulin you are on is because many patients on Lantus experience joint in muscle pain, especially in arms and legs. I don't know if the same is reported with Levemir, maybe an internet search is worthwhile.
I've been type-1 for 21 years, and can't think of any diabetes related cause for the symptoms you describe, unles it is a reaction to analogue insulin. It may well be nothing at all to do with diabetes, and just a co-incidence that you get the pain after injecting. sorry can't be of more help.
Does your new job involve any physical activity that could be causing the pain?
Best you see your doctor if the problems persists.

thankyou for your help i get the pain before i inject and only if my sugers i high when i get the pain i then do an injection and after about 15 mins the pain gose as my sugers come down.

Hi,
When you say your sugar is high, is it still up in the 20s when you're experiencing the pain?
It's obviously not good to let your BG levels run beyond 10, and large fluctuations can make you feel like ****. My Bg runs between 4-8 normally, and if I go up to 10, I really feel it and I'm aware of it-which it good. I've only had such control since getting off synthetic insulin, when I was yo-yo-ing all over the place for years, but the fluctuations were at their worst on analogues, no control at all  .
Have the pains only started since your BG's been running high?
