I've been type 2 since 2009 and had to very little management the information 2013 due to chronic pain after several spinal fusions I had to give up work a year later my sugars went up a lot in didn't get much help from go nurses at all, then last October the appointed a dedicated specialist nurse in happened to be in the surgery when I was mentioned so got to see her got on okay and after discussion we persuaded to go onto insulin this was devastating to me it was my biggest fear but I trusted her.I had appointment after Christmas and she told me that she was leaving as her contract had not been renewed in time so she took work elsewhere in was very upset but she assured me another special illustration would be appointed so I received my next appointment as I was still trying to get how much insulin I needed etc. Got to appointment and there was very young nurse and another women about 45 I asked what was going on and was told that the older nurse was training the young one by sitting in for a few weeks with each person then the young nurse would take over it was devastated this was going back to before when no one would make a decision nurse didn't know talk to doctor and back now forth after minutes I decided to try and listed to the older nurse in am over weight there are different reasons but she straight away knowing nothing about me said that I had to stop eating so much food news that portion control was the answer is tried to explain that this isn't my problem in fact it's the opposite is can only eat small amounts due to stomach problems not can only do little exercise but she didn't listen so I no longer go to see a diabetic nurse in am still using insulin a bit but on the edge of stopping my depression has got much worse so I no longer care about myself feeling very lost

Hi @fifi23

I'm just wondering as your a insulin user if you could ask for a referral over to the hospital diabetes clinic, there you can see a DSN or a consultant who specialise in this area, certainly worth enquiring about if your unhappy with your diabetes care under your gp surgery. Best wishes anyway.

I'm so sorry that you are having such an unhappy time. Have you thought of going to see your GP and telling him what you have just told us? I think that it must be hard for you to control your diabetes when you feel so low and your GP should be able to help with that. Good luck.
