Letter from the doctor

As a result from having my first Hba1c and cholesterol tests last week I received a letter from my doctor this morning saying that she would like me to go for a glucose tolerence test as she thinks I may get or already have diabetes. SHE DIAGNOSED ME LAST SEPTEMBER as being diabetic. I was also sent a diet sheet, a large part of which is bursting with carbs. It just fills you with confidence

Your doctor is clearly a genius! :x Just another reason to do as much research as you can yourself...

Infuriating, isn't it!

As I've often heard before, there's nothing wrong with our health service - its the people in it that are the problem! You do realise that this is all your fault. You obviously got yourself diagnosed as diabetic before you should have been. Your GP is now catching up with the paperwork and doing the tests that should have been done last September.

Thank you both. Just had a really good chuckle. What does the glucose tolerence test tell me, that the initial blood sugar which was 7.1, 2nd test 7.3 didn't.

Hi Broads,

A GTT done now will simply confirm what your doctor should already know!

Thanks Dennis. I discovered what happened when I mentioned the test to the nurse yesterday. Apparently my own doctor is away. Another doctor looked at previous blood test results and decided I needed the glucose tolerance test as I may be diabetic, obviously hadn't looked at my notes properly, so wrote to me enclosing the test request form. I have been able to cancel the test. Saved me 2 1/2 hours sitting in the hospital. Yipee.
