Hi, if you'reT2 doing low carb/keto (which is what I take from "watching my food" then my experience might be relevant. Alcohol will tend to suppress your blood glucose (because of its impact on the liver) so if you start off low and have no carbs to eat there is a risk of hypo. It's probably small for a T2 but it's there.
That didn't happen to me, but it's worth mentioning the possibility to someone with you who would notice if you start to behave a bit oddly. If that happens you need to have some glucose asap. A fruit juice should do it.
That's the warning over. I found, on the one occasion a couple of years ago when I tested while at the wedding, that I can manage spirits with no mixers, red wine, and a beer and my levels fell slightly (because of the alcohol suppressing etc). My levels were slightly elevated for the next day or so (high fives rather than high fours). I have done the same since and will be doing it again next week at another wedding.
What you might also notice is that you can't drink as much as you used to: that certainly was what i found.
