Ok, I've been Diagnosed for about 2 years. I'm fairly sure I had T2 way before then.

On/off taking of 500mg Metaformin. Some days I forget.

Friday, I fell sick, vomiting (luckily that was all). Since then I've had hot & cold shivers/sweats, headache, even my eyeballs ache. Joints ache. It comes and goes.
I've not eaten much since Friday evening (I had a light dinner, chicken soup no bread).

My Doctors surgery is a nightmare to get an appointment, so I managed to get someone to call me last night. They suggested my blood could be too low (esp. as I've not eaten much).
That kinda made sense- Mondays non-Water intake was a very small tumber (shot glass!) of Orange Juice and I forced myself to have 2 small lumps of chicken from my wifes curry (fairly dry), I didn't have naan/rice or anything else. And that was it all day.

Today, I got replacement strips for my tester, worked out how to use it again and it's reporting 11.9!
The doctor did suggestion not taking the Metaformin until I've measured myself.

But, a bit of a dilemma now.. What should I eat (short term)? Is there anything I can otherwise do? I'm not up for a jog right now haha!

It's obvious I need to take the Metaformin when I do eat and hopefully my levels will fall.

Being mainly bed-bound or very weak has really got me down today and due to feeling like this, I couldn't drive or go to work for the last few days.

Think drinking should be a higher priority just now. Try a soup or broth, or an oxo cube /marmite in hot water. Avoid Lucozade since your bgl seems to be running high enough already.
Then dry crackers is what my mum used to get me onto solids again following a good retching session.

Sounds like you picked up a bug, and yr post does not suggest a diabetes related cause. The Metformin is a long term medication. No point in taking it if you are likely to sick it up soon after, but maybe laying off until proper meal is sensible. It will not drop your bgl immediately and may need to build up for a while before you see any effect on bgl.

Think you need to wait till bug has bugged off before bgl reduces, since many of us find having an infection can raise bgl.

Thank-you for the reply. I've not vomited since early Saturday AM. I was surprised the bgl was so high and sitting here sweating isn't like me. I've never been told that sickness can elevate bgl!

I appreciate the reply, I'll try to pass my readings to the doctors surgery.

When you can't sleep and it's 4am, bad stuff can play on the mind!
