Levels high at night and low in the morning?

I have been a diabetic since august 1977 and for the last month I've been having a nightmare with my levels, for example a night it read 16.2 and this morning it was 2.6, I've tried everything but nothing works. This all started after I caught a cold.
Has anyone else experienced this?

If your on basal/bolus it's time to do some basal testing, the after effects of a cold shouldn't last more than a couple of weeks and I've not noticed a cold effecting my bg a month after having one.
