Hi Dave

Great that you are recording your levels. Bring them to the next appointment and discuss them. Do you have any bother getting the strips?

Like yourself I am T2 and lost about the same amount of weight.

Keep control of the condition and don't let it control you.

take care.

My doctor has advised me not to take any readings until at least 2 hours after a meal.

As the readings in this time will be high then after the 2 hour mark they start to come down.

Otherwise it is his opinion that taking readings in this 2 hour time frame can make you paranoid and can lead to depression.

The 2 hour guideline is probably the best to start with but boy does the 1 hour tell you how high the spike is?! So the doc is probably right in most cases - except for curious folk like me who like to keep a tight lid on things! And I don't panic, am not depressed and am certainly not paranoid either. :D 8)

Incidentally, I have heard said that just because you are paranoid it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you!!
