I’ve been on Levemir insulin since June 18.

Recently tho every time I inject it is stinging, it is stinging from the time I start injecting until I’ve finished.

Is that normal? Should I be contacting my DNS about?

Any help and advice welcome. Thanks all

Hi @Libby3781, Stinging is listed as a side-effect of Levemir. It would be a shame to have to stop it and switch to another long-acting insulin if the Levemir is doing the trick.
And there is no guarantee that another long-acting insulin would not have the same side-effect.
And as @Antje77 suggested perhaps try out other sites. Talk to your DSN but I think that the site of say, a Levemir injection, is not as crucial as for short-acting insulin, where the abdomen seems to provide the fastest absorption compared to other sites.
Best Wishes and maybe the stinging could get you out of some of those pesky household chores !! Fingers and toes crossed!!
(Opps, on second thoughts crossed toes might hamper circulation)!! :):inpain::):)

Thanks both.

I normally inject the NovoRapid in my abdomen. I’ve been injecting the Levemir in my thighs, and not had any issues until recently.

I’ve been debating trying to inject in my arms, but feel rather apprehensive about that.

I 've been doing my long acting in my arms for a week now. I'm still apprehensive about it but I think I like it a lot better than legs. I tried without injecting the first time :P

Hi @Libby3781, All you can do is try each site and see what works best for you. The tummy is still my favourite but with using an insulin pump I get some stinging even with the short-acting insulin, but it is the same injection site for 3 days or so.
Best of luck !!!

Over the years i’ve tried many different sites, but (for me) i found the best place for both the Levemir & Novorapid is in the abdomen.
I inject Novo in my left side and Lev in my right and get slight stinging from the Lev roughly once every 10-15 times, so i’d definitely have a word with your specialist if it stings every time.

Sorry but i’m new to the forum and only just saw the date of the last post .
Hopefully you’ve got your sites sorted by now.

Don't worry, you're not the first, nor will you be the last not to notice the date of a post. @Libby3781 is still around, so I'm sure she'll be happy you thought of her.

Yea I’ve done loads of shots in my tummy, resulting in me being banned from it for months to get rid of a massive lump
