Levemir / Novorapid - hair loss?

Hi All,
Just a quick post to see if anyone else has experienced hair loss with the above? I am 53 8 weeks newly diagnosed as Type 1.
Injecting 4 x PD on the LC HF diet.
Still quite High BG at 8.4 average but managing to bring down each day.
I take 12-13 ML overnight and dependent on carb content adjust Novarapid per meal no more than 60 carbs per day.
Did anyone else experience hair loss when first started on insulin?

@Itomo1 No, I didnt. Perhaps it's your body reacting to the shock of diagnosis?

Had you been ill for a while? Had you lost a lot of weight?
 
Consultant advised could have had for over 12 months ( slow onset) .
Lost about 1 st 10 lb but was very ill in DKA , thirst urination normal severe symptoms for about 6 week- 8 weeks before diagnosis. Was not massively overweight before about a stone.
I have a really thick head of hair so have not seen clumps falling out like this before , may Just be a reaction due to immune system being so poor for so long ?

I think any shock can cause that, and your body was probably quite depleted by the time you were diagnosed. Although my hair didn't fall out, I did lose a lot of weight and had felt pretty rough for weeks before diagnosis. I felt better after a few days on insulin and soon put the weight back on and got my strength back

Eating well and sleeping well might help get your hair back to normal. I'm sure it will recover

I was diagnosed Type 1 June 20th June this year, I am 52 nearly, my hair started falling out about a month after taking Novorapid and Lantus. I only had to run my fingers through my hair and I had a handful. I went to the doctors and had blood tests done, he said it was my age. In the last month it has really slowed down. I never had any problems with my health before being diagnosed, but now it is one thing after another.
I think it is the luck of the dice.
 
Thank you all for your replies, it does seem to be one thing after another but nothing I suppose to what your daughter and all the youngsters experience on a daily basis, I admire them all as I don't know if I would have coped at least at 53 I have lived more without than with it!
I will speak with the DN nurse at my appointment this week who is also a type 1.
Does anyone have any advice on maybe some supplements to take, hoping like yourselves @ Mahola @scarfmad this will slow down naturally.
I really do appreciate you taking the time to answer my post.
Found this group whilst in hospital - thank goodness , it has been brilliant and some great advice/ logic given on posts I have read previously.
 
Well just take a look at my Avatar and make your mind up for yourself ! I can see more clearly where I've come from now though lol.

Seriously now, I've been diabetic and using insulin for nearly 27 yrs and my hair loss runs in the family. My feet are still hairy, nit quite like a Hobbits and chest and back too. I dare say one could loose hair if your control isn't very good thus starving the hair of its nutrients. So if you have poor control and your sense of feeling is deteriorating in your feet you could also lose hair on your feet.

I doubt somehow that insulin or even poor control could result in hair loss to the scalp though, i could be wrong though.

My daughter in law is a pharmacist tells me my control is good for being newly diagnosed , around 8.4 ( not where it should be but I am determined before christmas it will be in the range) . I have recently been away for 2 weeks and sugars were higher than normal due to heat ect , so hopefully this will all go back to normal within a few weeks , thanks again for all your comments .
