I was on Lantus for years and it caused me loads of problems, and I know others hate it. I switched to Levemir which was not much better but to be fare I only gave it four weeks but it was enough. I am now on Porcine and its the business :D :D :D :D My advice for what its worth is before going onto Lantus try and split the Levemir, I was on 32 units and had 16 at 10:30pm ish and 16 at 10:30am ish and it worked better than taking it in one go. I also use the same split with the Porcine. If the only problem you have with Levemir is that balance problem I would tend to stick with it rather than risk the Lantus. Best to check with your doctor before doing it unless you are confident in managing it. I find the change to Porcine has worked wonders, much better control, and I feel so much better. Might be worth looking into. .
