I am not sure how much levermir I should inject before bed. I usually have a snack about 8.30/9.00 pm. and my B.G. reading is usually around 8......

Hi Blondie blue

I am also on levemir i was told to split my dosage in half and do half in the morning and half in the evening, i also have a snack about 8.30 - 9pm to cover myself through the night usually a small bowl of cereal does the trick. My levels before bed can range anything from 5.7 up to 12.0, but when i still tend to have a small snake and when i wake my levels go down between 6.0 and 7.4 Did your diabetic nurse or doctor tell you the amount to inject? because it also depends on how your levels are during the day and when you wake in the morning.

Hi. I'm also officially a T2 but probably a LADA, but I think the insulin regimes will have a similar approach for T1 or T2. I'm on Basal/Bolus but even with Basal when I started my excellent DN said to aim for around 6 in the morning from a once a day night-time injection. I started on 10 units of Levemir and had morning results of around 4.n. We agreed to reduce to 9 units and I'm now between 4 & 5 mmol in the morning which we agree is fine. This is all with a bedtime reading of between 5 and usually 10'ish. I will inject 10 units if my bedtime reading is above 10mmol. My weight is 60Kg and the 10 units is based on that; it should be varied to account for a different weight. So, in summary my nurse sensibly said inject as much as you can to stay around 6 mmol in the morning and avoiding going hypo during the night.

Thank you Tracy167 and Daibell for the info. I have got it sorted now after talking to the D.N.
