Libre 2

I’ve found that if my Libre 2 sensor expires at 16.00 on a Wednesday the new sensor won’t start up until that time even if e.g. it has accidentally came off the day before.
Is this a unique feature or glitch with Libre 2?

I'm not sure what you mean?

If you lose a sensor early you can simply apply a new one and scan it.
The app/reader will tell you that a new sensor is found and do you want to start it now. Tap yes and scan again and it'll work after the 60 minutes warm up.

Not so Antje77. I do as it says but can takes several hours to engage ... almost as if the expiry time is set in stone leaving a lag time of potentially hours (or days?).

Sounds like you have a dodgy sensor.

Have you called Abbott with your questions?

The expiry time is set in stone (or at least software) and is exactly 14 days after activation (unless it fails beforehand). You are welcome to remove it before then if you desire.
It then takes an hour for a new sensor to “warm up” and you cannot start the warm up before the old one has expired.
However, one hour without a CGM should not be considered a catastrophe. Remember, many of us had decades without one and are still alive and kicking.

I experience similar. When my husband's sensor falls off, we are unable to start a new replacement sensor until the old one times out on it's expected date and time. Putting a new sensor on results in a message stating this decice is incompatible with this system. (Both are Libre 2) The old one sitting in the box just says it can't get a glucose reading. Try again in 10 minutes. This continues until the old disc reaches the end of it's 14 day petiod.

There serms to be no way to end the old one early. I have tried various combinations of scanning new disc before and after scanning old disc and before and after placing new disc on his arm.

My husband uses the scanner due to dexterity issues that make it impossible for him to use a cell phone app. He is experiencing low glucose events and is unable to test with finger sticks for the same deterity issues. His arm moves so much, it is difficult for someone else to help him, as well. He goes for days without being able to test his BS. He uses a long lasting insulin.

You just scan the new sensor. It may come up saying it is incompatible but should also say do you want to scan new sensor. You have to say yes and then rescan. Every fortnight I wear 2 overnight so the new one beds in ready. I regularly go to scan the new one accidentally so have to quickly press no when it asks me if I want to activate.
I have never ever had an issue starting a new one early, if you are having problems there is something wrong with your scanning equipment.

I discovered the issue was slow processing on the scanner. When he gets the error message window and acknowledges to dismiss, nothing happens after waiting a bit. So a few tries later and it appears to go back to scan.

However, multiple screens fly by so fast they are hard to see. I only noticed because I saw a flash of red fly by on the way to the regular scan window. It acts as if it has saved up all the attempts to dismiss the original message and applies those touches to the subsequent windows so fast you don't even see that window giving the option to start a new sensor.

So if scanner seems non-responsive, wait quite a while before trying to dismiss again.

I hope this helps someone else.
