Libre on prescription for type 2

Do keep trying. I am type 2 and have been prescribed the Freestyle Libre device after telling my diabetic clinic of concerns that my small fingers were not readily producing blood from a finger pricker following several years using that method. The clinic readily made a case to my GP who seemed wary at first but the clinic gave me a meter and my GP has now prescribed repeat prescriptions. I love the device which I use via my phone.

I'm on metaformin along with 6 other meds for my heart. How do they expect diabetics to control their condition and prevent bigger health probs? Sounds like an expensive mistake. I've got to wait until the 29th to see the diabetic nurse, so I'm on my own till then.

I'm type 1 and I'm supposedly on a waiting list for the past two years. Lost faith in the NHS. Absolute farce

The rules for prescribing changed a while ago, so worth "poking the dog" and asking again.

As I understand it, those using insulin should be able to have the Libre

T1s using insulin should get the libre without having to jump through hoops, though it sounds like some areas of the country are still slow to adopt the April NICE guidance?

T2s on insulin seem to be in the position that T1s were a year ago - it depends on your local health authority and your consultant and you need a good reason as well as insulin to get it on script.

I live in hope that eventually all insulin users will get it, regardless of type, specially since "type" is sometimes a bit of a grey area.
