Cold weather, angry people, queues,
I should be able to use my new Libre 2 from next Tuesday and the following week we will be off to Rhodes , I was just wondering if the sensor and reader are ok to take through airport security X ray scanners or should I wait until we come back before I start to use it ? Thanks for any info .

You can go through the regular metal detector scanners, you just can't go through the full body x-ray scanners. I always notify airport staff that I have a CGM on/insulin pump and can't go through the full body scanners, they usually just do the metal wand scan and frisk search me. It's more common for people to have these devices these days so airport staff are well aware you may not be able to go through the full x-ray scanner and have other ways to search you. The reader is fine to go through as normal.

Lucky you, you get to eat at Seva’s place in Rhodes town…the prawn saganaki of my dreams.

It is not recommended to go through full body scanners with an insulin pump but there are no problems with a CGM. They can be x-rayed when attached as well as going spares on the hand luggage security belt.
They have never set off any security alarms in the many many times I have been through airports with them and continue to work fine afterwards.
I find no need to share personal information such as having diabetes ithe strangers such as airport security staff unless they ask me an explicit question.
However, as @Nicola M mentions, they are very familiar with diabetes tech (although more aware of tubed pumps than tubeless ones in my experience) if you do want to tell them.

I recommend making the most of Libre during abnormal week such as a holiday when your BG may behave differently to usual. And enjoy Rhodes.
