Hello all

Looking for someone in the Ascot/ Bracknell area who might have a spare Freestyle Libre sensor I could purchase or replace. Both of my daughters spare sensors that we had have failed and not sure wether the new replacement ones will arrive by the weekend when we go away. It would be nice for her not to have to go back to finger pricking over Christmas.
Cheers

i take it you spoke to LIBRE on this i had one replaced 3 months back very good delivery maybe you can track the delivery

if not as you say back to finger pricking before meals but make sure to get as close to correct carbs in counting i.e. xmas snacks for xmas i.e. xmas cake mince pies but do if poss check on carbs as most things in packets do have it on
sorry i am in suffolk would have helped but i may be using my one for better control if not use more finger pricking control

tough but better than nothing ps always check last thing before bed , as things do add over the day and you will be surprised what blood sugars are at night also do you have a local diabetics clinic can always try them they may help to

Hello Keith - Have you considered calling your daughter's clinic? They may have a sensor, meant for trial purposes they could lend you, pending you replacing it, after the holiday? Slightly off the wall, but if they know can understand, they may just help out. Stranger things have happened.....

I hope you find someone somewhere to help.

Yes rang them straight away but as it's not yet prescribed they do not have any. Just hope they turn up before we travel.
I was disappointed that we had these failures, we are new to this system. My daughter had a free trail 2 weeks ago and we were very impressed with the overnight trending as we are having problems with her levels overnight but this system gives a picture of what is happening.
We had one sensor where it failed to insert the probe (it was bent over on top of her skin), we then applied our second sensor waited as it says but it constantly kept saying the sensor was loose. When we eventually removed it the probe had gone in but there was blood all over it and the bottom face on the sensor. I don't know if that is why it wouldn't read?
Let's hope we have more success with the replacements when they arrive
Cheers

I can't say I have ever experienced issues with filaments not inserting properly, but of course, that's just my sample of one.

I must admit I usually place the applicator onto the skin fairly firmly before activating the plunger, making sure the applicator doesn't move around at all, then I apply pressure in a circular motion with the applicator to ensure all the adhesive stick around the edges, before lifting the applicator off.

I'm not suggesting for an instant your process is at fault, but possibly worth a review of the demo video on the Abbott sire before the next go, if you've had one success and two failures?

How old is your daughter? Does she apply the sensors herself, or do you (or your wife) do it for her?

We apply it for her, the problem we think with the one that didn't insert was the applicator needle, when we took the applicator away from her arm the needle fell out onto the floor!! the second sensor had the filament inserted in her arm but just kept reading " sensor loose " but that was the one where she had had a bleed.
