Libre2 A1C accuracy

Hey guys,

For those of you who are seasoned users of FreeStyle Libre2, how accurate would you say is the A1C reading?

It looks like it is just based linearly on the average glucose reading so I was curious about everyone's experiences of whether it was higher or lower (and by how much).

I'm sort of targeting sub 5.7% on the app and I would love my next (and first post diagnosis) proper blood test to show a similar a1c.

We all vary so you may get a variety of answers.
For me, my "real" HBa1C was 10 (sorry, I only know the "new" numbers - I haven't used the % for the last 15 years) more than the Libre estimate. At least Libre has the courtesy to call it an "estimate."

I've have had 3 proper tests and they have all been between 6 and 7 mmol/l higher what than the libre estimated. (I think that translates to about 0.6 or 0.7%)

That may not sound very accurate, but the fact that the difference is reasonably consistent means it has value to me and I know that if I want my HBA1c to be below 7% then I need the libre estimate to be below 6.3%

I've only been using since Jan/Feb 2022. My 1st proper A1C was 6.6 Libre2 said 6.5.
My latest proper A1C was 5.7 Libre2 said exactly the same.
I always fit a new sensor at least 24hrs before start up. My readings occasionally differ. But most of the time are nearly the same as a finger prick.

My libre sensor had me at 3.8 to 2.8 to 2.2 this afternoon.! I checked it with a BG strip which said 6.2mmol/l. Since I felt absolutely fine and the reader passed all its diagnostic tests my conclusion was that the sensor was faulty and needs replacing.
Guess the moral of this story that if you have unusual readings with a libre sensor check it out with a BG strip.! Freestyle libre sensors are very useful but not without their problems.

Put on a new sensor which is now in broad agreement with my BG meter.
