Before making the decision to use one of the new weight loss drugs I would like to hear the experience of those who have taken them and have now stopped using them. I have heard that some people regain some weight after stopping them, but am anxious to know if there are any other side effects that remain/crop up when you no longer use them?

Thank you

Good question . I'm on Ozempic now but do not want to be forever.

One thing they strongly suggest is modifying your eating habits to ensure you eat well and not too much. If you can afford it a dieticians advice would be helpful. It may be covered by your health insurance ( if any) or tax deductible . Im seeing one now and it's been helpful .

Another thing to incorporate is exercise according to your ability and health issues. Good habits developed now will help later on when you stop.

Looking forward to other replies.

Thank you, that's good advice.

Yes there are, thank you.

I am most worried about long term effects. I guess time will tell, most people are probably still taking them so can't give a reply yet.

Hi, I was on mounjaro for 6 months before getting to approximately my target weight. You have to remember that this is like any diet, if you go back to how you were eating before, you will gain weight again. The drugs help you to lose weight because you dont want to eat as much do would normally. However you have to learn from this experience and understand what it the correct amount and what is a healthy diet.
I did put weight on afterwards (not the full amount at all), mainly because it was 'ooh I can have cake!' and increased the amount of carbs I ate. Eating carbs again after a time of not eating them makes you gain weight really really quickly as you replenish your glycogen stores and the associated water. This also had a bad impact on my blood sugars. I have been able to get this under control and am losing the weight gain without the drugs

Well done on managing to lose weight again without the drugs. I'm impressed.

I've had time to think about it I've decided against taking the drugs as I don't want to risk having any unwanted side effects after completing the course.
My thanks to those who replied here.
