Hi, has anyone have life insurance and who is it with . i am trying to get cover at the mo and not having much fun the best one i have had so far was £78 a month but that was withdrawn shortly afterwoods. any help would be most welcome.
regards mark

I was told upon enquiry that since I have been recently been diagnosed (13 January 2012), I am in the time frame of being presently uninsurable. However, when further HbA1c test results become apparent during the months to come, I will be able to insure potentially at a premium of 50% over non-diabetic healthy people.

Pesumably, if my risk of dying is 50% greater then my annuity will be similarly cheaper to buy.

i had to take out new cover last year on my morgage as me old cover ran out, did mine through hsbc, when i said i was t2 the cover went from £8 month up to £26, the cover though is only for the outstanding morgage

I've been diagnosed to have T1 diabetes. I was adviced to get a life insurance to help me with the health cost but still figuring out where to get one. Most insurance companies are very strict in approving policies with illness such as diabetes.
I've been checking this site http://www.quotes-center.com/life-insurance-rates-by-age/
for the best insurance that I can get.

Do you have to tell your insurance company you have diabetes? If you do.............. whoops :shh:

Me too Jeannemum

I won`t bother. I will be cured in June

Just a note - important one. If you were diagnosed AFTER starting your life policy, and wasnt under investigation for related symptoms, you should be ok. If you take it put AFTER, and don't tell them, your policy will be void and won't pay out even if you die of non diabetes related causes. You MUST tell them- otherwise you're paying for something worthless. I sat on an u deferiting committee once, so know how these things pan out.

when I was getting life cover a year or more ago the insurance company wanted me to have a blood test, which I did and I wasn't diabetic then and the company gave me cover. I've not informed them that I am now as my contract with them was pre-diabetic. But I have told my car insurance company and they were fine with it. Will be interesting to see if my premium goes up next year.
I will have to enquire if my life insurance company should be told. Will phone them with a general enquiry before I tell them my name! My life cover is only until I get to 66yrs old, not full life, unless I pop my clogs before then that is

For life cover I am with Aviva (was/is Norwich Union) and I think the premium is quite high at about £77 per month (that's a joint policy). We did have a financial advisor chappie  look at it a couple of years ago with another company and I had to fill in a questionnaire, give them permission to speak to a doctor on the phone and then speak to their doctor on the phone - all to have the quoted premium come back higher.

Car insurance has never been affected as far as I know.
