Hi
I'm from Ukraine
I have T1

In our country all diabetics are advised to drip intravenously (intravenous infusions) preparations containing Lipoic acid (alpha lipoic acid) every year

I wonder what's the attitude toward this drug in your country
is this drug recommended?
Thanks!

Nope it is regarded by most health clinicians as being ju-ju medicin to be taken at risk, There are no proper formal trials showing benefit from ALA although there is much anecdotal 'evidence; in its support.

It is routinely prescribed to diabetics in Germany but in UK is use is not supported by the medics. It is not on scrip, but can be purchased privately. I use it myself but here in UK we do not seem to get intravenous treatments except in hospitals. I use oral capsules on occasions. Caveat Emptor applies

Alpha Lipoic Acid can have several benefits. One is that it seems to reduce the symptoms of neuropathy (e.g. pain or loss of sensation in hands and feet). Another is that it helps to clear "brain fog" and increases mental function. This may benefit people suffering from memory loss, which can also be a complication of prolonged high blood sugar.

I take one 300Mg capsules a day, but this is not medically prescribed. ALA does also seem to reduce blood sugar levels, so you need to be aware of this if you take other medication.
