Lipomas and diabetes

Hello, I'm 64 and I've been diabetic T2 for about ten years. I'm 165cm tall and weigh 76kg and have done for years, give or take 5kg.
I've had lipomas since my mid 20s when one came up on my upper back and two on my legs (one on the inside of each thigh and these were removed because it made it uncomfy to walk).
Since my early 50s the blessed things have come up all over -- in the sides of my torso but especially on my arms, which in certain lights look like Brussel sprout sticks.
Apparently one in 1,000 people get lipomas ... but could they be more common in people with diabetes?

I must say @chiefsub68 I have not heard of them, or know anyone with that condition, not as far as I know, so I can't really comment. I did read your link however, and noted that glucose intolerance is down there as a risk factor. It must be very distressing. I am sure others will be along and comment on its relationship to diabetes.
 
My very much not diabetic OH and adult child have small ones. So do I and they are increasing in number. Maybe it’s just another genetic lottery thing. I’d be interested if anyone knows of links. IR seems responsible for so many things.
 
I had one on my side for several years. It appeared when I was 30, many years before T2 diagnosis. When it became bothersome I had it removed, it has grown back a little but isn't annoying again yet.
 
I had one that started in my 30s between my neck & shoulder, it was slow growing but grew to about the size of a fist. I had it removed about 10 years ago because it was causing all sorts of problems giving me frozen shoulder like symptoms and headaches.

I had local anaesthetic but was on the cusp of them having to put me under, it was growing around nerves and the surgeon struggled to get it all out. He said no wonder I was in so much pain. I don’t think he got it all, I’ve been back as it’s starting to grow again but he’s very reluctant to go back in because he says there’s a lot of scar tissue from last time. He also said that now they only remove them if they are causing problems, they don’t do them now for cosmetic reasons so wouldn’t do it for that reason also

I do have tiny pea size ones in other places on my body that never grow any bigger, the one on my hip I’ve had since my teens so over 50 years
 
Not sure, but my dad had them on his arms, sister on her arms and I had a few on the front of my thighs. I think they can be hereditary my dad was not diabetic but sister was pre diabetic. One in particular used to hurt as it irritated the nerve on that leg. Since exercising and and weight loss, I've not had any pain. Perhaps its shrunk. My collie x had lumps too on his legs, think that was the same.
 
I checked Biilous and Donnelly's Handbook of Diabetes. They don't mention lipomas at all.

However they sometimes don't pay a lot of attention to diabetes related things that are "non life-threatening" and/or not amenable to medication.
