I've just read a study for a clinic somewhere in the Home Counties (this is a southeastern cluster of the UK to the non-natives) that they are to pilot "revolutionary pioneering" yet clearly invasive surgery where liposuction would be directly applied in the liver to clear it of fatty deposits.. who in the right mind would sanction such a scheme? Surely NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) would be have their heads in their hands at the very thought.

Frankly, having seen a couple of liposuction procedures on TV, I, personally, would be a avoiding any such process, near my precious and delicate liver like the plague. In fact like several plagues!

Thankfully my visceral fat now runs at low levels, so hopefully this isn't a decision I will have to make. Others can make their own minds up for themselves.

Do you have a link to the article?

I always thought (perhaps erroneously) that liver fat was marbled through the liver, changing every cell - think the unhealthy yellow colour of fois gras pate, rather than the dark red healthy colour of fresh liver from the butchers).

In which case, liposuction on the liver would suck out whole chunks of useful liver... as well as the fat, and cause internal bleeding.

But maybe I am wrong.

Are you sure they weren't talking about visceral fat around organs, like the heart and kidneys? Although I think liposuction on that would be dicing with death too...
