I'm having a GTT at the moment. I've now got a couple of hours of sitting around with nothing to do, so with the aid of my meter and smartphone I thought I'd provide live updates of my progress.

Waking level 4.8
immediately prior to drink 5.3

I've had the drink and i'll let you know my first result in about half an hour.
 
Hoping for the latter, but you've probably got just under 2 hours to organize a welcome party for me.

First test at half an hour is 11.2
Don't know how significant that is
Feeling very buzzy from the sudden intake of glucose. Probably the biggest hit of glucose since the infamous Quality Street incident a couple of months ago.
 
10.7 at an hour and a half. It's going to be close.
The person next to me is drinking a very aromatic coffee. I want my breakfast.
 
Back home now. Final result at 2 hours was 8.1. Half an hour after that it was 6.6, and at 3 hours I'm 4.7. I'm going to have some breakfast now.

Will have to wait until Monday for the official result, but it looks as if I'm still pre diabetic. Thanks for helping to keep me occupied during the wait.

Don't worry Sugarmog, Stephen (Borofergie) tried to chase me off the site after my last HbA1c even though his was lower than mine. :lol:

Well done, enjoy being a non diabetic, but be careful with your diet or you could end up a fully fledged member here, and this really is the club no-one wants to join.
 
I'm not planning on going anywhere just yet, at least not until the official results are in. Even then I would be loathe to leave a site that has been so instrumental in helping me get my glucose levels under control.

The reading that I took at two hours was about 4 minutes after the one the nurse did, and given how fast my levels were falling at that time (over 2.5 in half an hour) it is probable that her reading will be higher. Add into that questions about meter accuracy and whether readings from the vein are the same as at the fingertip, I'm not cracking open the Cadbury's Dairy Milk just yet.

In fact, if by some chance I do fall into the non diabetic category it will actually confuse the issue as I have been considered glucose intolerant for nearly 20 years and fully diabetic since this time last year.

Interestingly I could sense the point at which the tide turned turned and the my level started to drop. About 10 mins after the one hour mark when I had measured 11.6 I suddenly started to feel less "buzzy" and my whole body felt more relaxed. When I measured again 20 mins later I was not at all surprised to see that I had gone down by almost 1 point (10.7).

That's a problem isn't it? I guess the good news is that the treatment for glucose intolerance and mild T2 diabetes is the same - cut out carbs (and sometimes lose some weight).
