living with Type 1 for 51+ years

Hi Claymondo, welcome. I am 56 years old will be 57 next month and feel my life is over,  I was diagnosed with Type 1 in June 2011. How on earth have you coped for 51 years plus? I understand things are "easier" in respect of injecting and carb counting these days, but that's about it. I would love to hear your experiences and any useful tips and advice you may like to share please :) Did you ever feel like giving up? Do you suffer with any complications? Do you ever wish for your old life back or were you very young when you were first diagnosed so you don't remember any different? Hope to hear from you, best wishes.

Hello: This is my first post as new member.
I would be happy to share my experiences with anyone.
Please let me know. Thanks!!

Hello and welcome Claymondo  So you were diagnosed in the 1960's, you obviously have seen lots and lots of changes in diabetes management and 1000's of injections and finger pricking!!!! I was diagnosed in 1989. Wow 51 + 1 thats quite an achievement 8) I find I just get on with it and try my best to keep diabetes in control and not for the diabetes to control me. Lots of up's and down along the way,is it the same for you?
Best wishes RRB

Welcome to the forum Claymondo :)

51 years is a hell of a long time and as RRB says I bet you've seen some changes in this time.
