Long periods of time without food

hi, i think so, im sure someone will come along with better advice than "i think so" i worked late yesterday so went about 9 hours, i expected my bg to be really low but it was high, weird.

I find that it doesn't help, because your body can enter "starvation mode" which is where your cells are desperate for energy, but you're not eating - so your liver kindly dumps glucose into your blood stream to help out. In diabetics this does not tend to stop when it should and so blood sugar levels rise. I have to get up and try to eat something every morning to stop this from happening. :(

I've adopted intermittent fasting for the sake of shredding fat, oddly enough I'm finding my blood sugar control a lot better. ON top of this I lift weights three times a week and do cardio twice a week.

I've had much better blood sugar control, from my experience, no it's not bad.

As for starvation mode, I've not lose any strength when it comes to weight lifting, but can see a reduction in fat and on the scales. Diet induced ketones may appear but I'm taking my basal/bolus insulin so not fussed about those

I can't say, as I am a recovering anorexic, and struggle with food. Weight gain for me happened because I was chucked on weight induced tablets plus steriods and I have medication induced diabetes. :( . Despite my dad having type2. For me though I am off the steroids and the other meds that made me gain the weight and am 5lbs off target weight. I just hope I manage to stick to that weight and don't go down any further. My calorie intake is 200 calories on a bad day if I am not sleeping, but 300 - 400 blended on a good day. I never feel hungry.

I don't test my blood sugar levels - don't see the point in getting obsessive over something new. I also have complex food allergies, so have to be really careful.

Every body is different though. Every bodies system will react in a totally different way.
