Long term effects of low carbs?

Hi all,

Just a quick question about your experience of low-carb diets. I am currently weight-training and having very little carbs apart from pre-training. Typically my day will be like this:-

Breakfast - 5 egg-white omelette with 1 piece of wholemeal bread
Mid - morning - whey protein shake
Lunch - 4 boiled-egg whites with chicken breast and 1 piece of wholemeal bread
Evening meal - 'normal' meal but usually with a normal amount of carbs before training.

What I am finding is that I only now need to inject for my evening meal to keep my glucose levels between 4-8mmol. I am not feeling tired or hungry at all, but just wondered if there will be any long-term effects of not having a regular injection of insulin?

Cheers

JC

Hi Joel,

Your probably consuming a moderate amount of carbs a day depending on your carb value for evening meal so can't see you why you are worried?

I notice you haven't included any fruit in your days menu which would be better for your overall health, remember you can always include low-carb berries if you are concerned about raising your daily carbs.

Hi Joel
I know of 2 effects of low carbs - you get cold very easily and the liver is not able to make as much glucose to release when your body needs it. These have been confirmed by the DAFNE team :D
