Long Term Trulicity Effects

Hi @MRSDUMPLIN you poor thing. You can be put on Metformin. This was an option given to me by my endocrinologist if Trulicity doesn’t work for me.

Trulicity is a good drug. I’ve lost 10lbs after 6 injections but it hasn’t been without difficulties. Hypos, vomiting, intense nausea, dizziness, little to no appetite and severe constipation. I wanted to throw in the towel two days ago. I get my liver and kidney function test minimum of 4 times a year because I take lithium and sodium valproate for my bipolar, and my liver has shown elevated levels in my liver. It shows that my liver is struggling, even before I started with Trulicity. In fact, it’s showing signs of alcohol abuse. I don’t drink ‍

Other things I know that can elevate your liver function levels are alcohol, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, lithium, sodium, valproate, and possibly anaemia, paracetamol.

The kind pharmacist, I managed to speak to on New Year’s Eve gave me some good advice about making sure that I have the correct stool softeners (sorry tmi) so that toxins don’t buildup in my body / large intestines. Nothing I had used worked over the previous few weeks. Being constipated certainly doesn’t help nausea and vomiting. Not to be flippant but maybe if you try to clear out your tubes and see if that helps.

Just to let you know that your body can develop an allergy to anything irrespective of how long you have been using it.
