Hi to all!Im new to this site and allthough Ive not been diagnosed with diabetes,I am somewhat concerned about it.Ive been meaning to get checked out at the local GP but to be honest, the state of my local practice and past experience there leaves me in the mind of only going there in a "desperate"or "urgent" moment.
I've recently discovered(but has been getting worse for a while now) that I'm getting uncontrolled bouts of extreme tiredness, more extreme after I've just eaten. But in a complete contrast to that I have bouts of energy that are scarily high with the feeling I could sprint a marathon not just run it,on top of this I'm getting bleary vision and have recently had to hold onto things to steady myself due to dizziness and the fear of falling over.my thirst never seems to be quenched and I drink humongous amounts of water, which inevitably results in the need of the toilet very often. Both my parents have/had diabetes, but which type I don't know and probably won't find out as my mother passed away several years ago and my father I have no contact with and don't know his whereabouts to be frank.I think the question Im asking is does anybody out there think that this warrants a check up for diabetes, and as I don't want to sound or look like a hypochondriac, and don't really want to go to a GP who's attitude seems to be "are you dying?"or "is it hanging off?"I would rather get a bit of info and advice from actual sufferers of diabetes before braving the battlefield of my GP without any "ammunition "so to say!i would be very very grateful if anyone could advise/help on this matter!
Many thanks and kind regards !
Peter.
