Hi, Im new here.

Ive had 2 UTI's in the last 3 weeks and had like a hot pain/ache around right kidney area for some months, went to docs and sent me for blood tests, now they want me to go for a fasting blood test as my glucose was slightly high and on the form its says abnormal hba1c?
Just to test it for myself I had my brother in law test my sugar for me as he is diabetic and it was 5.2 that was after 3 cups of tea and two biscuits during the morning, is that reading ok?
Does that sound like they suspect diabetes? its really worrying me now.

Thanks for any help.

Your "spot check" blood glucose reading was normal, but that's not your Hba1c, which is a measurement of what your blood glucose has been doing in the last 3 months or so. High HbA1c [above 7%, sorry Ican't remember the conversion to the new scale!] is diagnostic of diabetes, but there are people wjith slightly raised HbA1cs who are not diagnosed diabetic.. UTIs are common in diabetes, so it's a natural thing to check for.
However. If you are diabetic, surely it's better to know and do something to control it, ratther than go on in ignorance and develop serious complications.
