loosing weight

Dear friends Greetings to you all. its my first time in here and I've been diagnosed with type2 diabetic. am a bit worried as am loosing weight so rapidly. from86kg to 80 kg in 4 month. Is this due to the condition i have. I was not taking medication in the beggining but controlling it with diet... the loosing weight factor made me start using metformin modified release. please help.
