Losing my eyesight

Sorry to hear about your eyesight problems. I don't believe anybody here can answer your questions.

We know nothing about the damage you have to your eyes and if it is irreversible or not. Even then, we are just Diabetics not specialists in Opthamology.

This sort of question is something you really have to ask the Consultant, even then I doubt you would get a definitive answer. Some things are just not able to be answered.

You mention your high Bg levels......you may possibly be able to slow the decline if you control those levels well, that's always assuming that the damage was due to the high Bg levels. I know from my own personal experience that my own eyesight improved dramatically after getting Bg levels down to more normal levels. That worked for me, but I have no idea if it would help you.

See the Consultant, grit your teeth.......ask the questions. Good luck.

Sorry to hear of the problems you are having. :shock: Ken is right when he says that we cannot answer specialist medical type questions and so you really do need to get another appointment and talk it through. You may find it helpful to take someone with you to make sure that you ask for all the information you need and help to record it so that nothing gets forgotten. It is easy to miss things when we are anxious. :roll:

We CAN encourage you to work on your BG levels which will help you overall whether they are responsible for your eye damage or not. Give us more information so that we can help. You say that you levels have always been high so what numbers are you clocking up and also what is your food plan :?:

sorry to hear that news, i was diagnosed last week with type one and thats been on my mind ever since, if its any help my sister was diabetic from the age of seven she is now 35, and she is also the same she lost the sight in her right eye about 7 years ago and the sight in her left eyes has been goin slowly for the last 5 but the last year its stayed the same and hopefully it will stay like that for a while now.
