Hi donnellysdogs (sorry this isn't of help to original poster's query), I use jelly sweets for hypos but as I'm vegan I use Goody Good Stuff - Sour Fruit Salad - 5g CHO per jelly I worked out. I take 2 or 3 of them depending on how low I am & other factors. First came across them in the special diet section in Waitrose but got my health food shop to order in a whole box of them for me so I have a plentiful (& cheaper!) supply. http://www.goodygoodstuff.com/ Anyway, point is they're gelatin-free. I'm also pumping insulin, I've not heard before about any links between pumping and gastric disorders. I know if you tighten up control rapidly, like through going on a pump, you can accelerate Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (which I have), so it makes sense that the same could happen with blood vessel growth in the gut. But that's a sudden tightening up of control rather than a pump issue. And the jelly approach to hypo treatment is not related to pump use, just another way of treating hypos. I'm just trying to work out here why pumping itself could cause bowel problems??? Worried and highly intrigued! @tinytim - that's an awful dietician you saw there! Is there more than one at the hospital? Could be worth making enquiries via your GP or consultant about seeing a different dietician, if at all possible. It does sound like highly specialist advice is needed..
