Loss of appetite

Im currently taking metformin 4 x 500mg (slow release) foxiga i x 10g and vidagliptin2 x 50g, i hardly have any appetite am strugglng to eat most of the time, following lchf but my levels are still too high , dont understand it
 
What do you consider high Sharon. What are you eating? Give us a typical days menu.

Yes my appetite is reduced on metformin ....it happens a lot ...
 
I upped my Metformin to 3 and find I get bored half way through my dinner most days these days. Not sure I'm going to rush up to 4 a day.

Tell me about it. Though I have read that the therapeutic dose is the full 4 a day. To be fair, he hasn't seen me since diagnosis since when I have lost 3 stone and isn't planning on a other HbA1c till January, even though my last one had several weeks worth of pre- diagnosis results in it. Also I have refused his lovely statins and métformin supposedly has a beneficial effect on LDL and various body organs so I guess it's me getting my knuckles rapped and medicated another way.
 
OOh I think I would ask for another blood test before I go to four.
 
You are thinking like I am thinking.... I may see if the surgery has appointed a DN yet as ours left just as I was diagnosed and no one seems to have a clue who is doing what as the GP was making all the decisions over the phone. Otherwise I will just keep taking my 3 and tell them 4 made me ill.

Dawn my readings are usually over 13 and thats on a really reduced carb intake , one slice of linseed and soya bread sends my sugars up.
 
dont eat potatoes pasta rice my diet consists of protein ans salad or veg

have you spoken to your Dr or nurse, yet? it might be time to move to another medication
 
hello jack saw the doctor last week and i have to see her again in 5 weeks time.
 
The gliptin you are taking is an inhibitor and one of the side effects is loss of appetite. It also helps reduce your blod glucose levels.

how long before the vidagliptin starts working to reduce my bs levels?

Not sure. You still have to cut the carbs and sugars. As with everything that is diabetes it is a long process and you will need to be patient. It will be gradual. The symptoms will reduce and the **** way you are feeling will get less
