Hi i am a 42 year old male i take 2000mg metamorfin and 1 sitiglapten daily, i have just been for my third hospital eye test . This time the result was they had detected some change due to diabetes but there was no immediate threat to my eye site and gave me another appointment in a years time and said if i was worried to speak to my doctor which i have not done yet, can anyone tell me once the damage has started theres probably no stopping it and i will loose some or all my sight in years to come and to live with it and get used to the fact which i have heard , can someone PLEASE tell me the truth THANKS

Hi tommy
I had the same result to my last test but I have been reassured both on this forum and by my optician that these are only minor changes and by keeping tight control of my BGs then I should not have any major problems
CAR0L

Tommy, I have no first hand knowledge, but I've been told early minor damage can be reversed with good control over BGs

Tommy,

Don't panic just yet, it's quite common for changes to be seen in the eyes of diabetics and not all go on to become worse over time, the best advice is to keep your bg, bp and cholesterol in check and try and eat a diet rich in fruit and vegetables and then hope for the best.......this is what I was told by Ophthalmologist many years ago.

Good luck for next year! :)
