Low blood glucose

Hi. Diagnosed with type 2 in Nov 2012 and controlling by diet and testing blood glucose 1/week. Was feeling light headed this morning so checked blood & was 4.4. This seemed low so had a glucose tablet. Is this the right thing to do? As still not feeling 100%. Should I have just had some food? How long should it be before I'm feeling OK again (i.e. sugar levels up a bit)?

Hi,

4.4 is not low - anything from 4-7 is considered "normal".

If you have been running high blood sugars for some time though, a drop to 4,4 may feel like a "hypo" but this is not a real hypo.

Hi. There is nothing wrong in having a glucose tablet if you feel you are getting near hypoland i.e. somewhere below 4. Having a bit of carby food should do equally well as speed wouldn't be essential at that level.
