Lack of carbohydrate and sugar causes low readings.
If your boyfriends levels are 1.5 he needs some glucose or sugary water as soon as possible as those levels are dangerously low.
Let us know how things go.

Alcohol causes low blood sugar. It is a symptom of a hangover. If your boyfriend is on medication then he might have done all of his sums right and forgotten that the liver will not raise his blood sugar level while it is dealing with alcohol. I know I may be making an unjust accusation but if he has been celebrating Christmas too well It could be the answer.

ah, that would be the answer, i was not with him over xmas and that would be what caused the dip, i asked him what he thought it was that caused it and he said he had a cold and a bad stomach ( to put it politely)....
yes, he did celebrate xmas with alcohol and does not usually drink so must have got that wrong. thanks for that, i am learning so much about the condition and passing the information onto him.
i dont know how much notice he really wants to take of his condition so what i will do is pass this last bit of info on and then leave him to it.
thanks for the help.kind regards
