Low blood sugars

Hi all, i'm very confused and wondered if anyone here might have some idea what might be going on. :(

I work shifts (Nurse HCA) and when i work an early shift i'm up at 05.45am ready to start my shift at 07.00am. I eat tea and toast before I leave. By 08.30pm i'm almost collapsing and when they take my sugar level is always around 3.2 / 3.6.
I'm not diabetic and my sugar levels never go above 4.5 I have tried eating Porridge and toast in the morning but it makes no difference.

I had a fasting blood test last week; i fasted from 10.30pm the previous evening until 13.45pm the following after noon and my blood sugar was 4 when she took it with the blood test and 4.5 after glucose drink two hour later! The blood test showed 4.4 to start and 4.4 second blood test!

I don't understand what could be going on. The collapsing is happening more and more; i'm now able to recognizing the signs and go and eat something sweet before it goes too far, but my concern is why this is happening in the first place?

I 'm having to swap all my shifts to late's because it never happens when i'm on a late shift?
Any advice or suggestion would be welcome right now

Thanks

Babs

Have you considered that because you are only eating carbs for breakfast and do a demanding job that you might need to include other food groups in your breakfast? Protein sustains us longer, so perhaps an egg on the toast, some seeds and nuts in the porridge might do the trick.

Thanks Catherine; I will give this a try; i had a bad day today; bang on 08.30am feeling shaky and 'high' blood sugar levels 3.4 i ate some gluco tabs which raised it to 4.4 in a few mins which gave me extra time before i managed to get my break at 10.45am. However; i only managed to get some porridge and a couple of apples due to lack of time; by 14pm it was staring again.
Difficult times :?
