Hi. My daughter is 4 and we have been diagnosed for a year now. She still shows no real signs of lows and it can be really scary and also frustrating at times as I find myself testing a lot more on some days, particularly when she's very active. We have also hit the 2's without any warning, and its terrifying. The only consistent sign is that she will complain of being hungry, but she also says the same if she is high so I still have to test. My nurse assures me it is normal for a young child, and that she will be able to recognise it herself as time goes on and her body matures, and then will be able to communicate it better, we even when outwardly she's not showing any obvious signs .
It's so tough, especially at the beginning but I promise you it does get easier. I think a year on, my tears have finally stopped!! Good luck, I'm sure you are doing all the right things x

I was diagnosed at 19 when i was training to be a teacher. Met a young lad, who i was teaching, aged 6 who had diabetes and was amazing. Your little ones will pick it up so quick and it will be as normal a part of their life as brushing their teeth.

I wouldn't be so daft as to tell a parent not to worry, but kids are infinitely more resilient than us adults!

My daughter can offend have 2 hypos in a row. She had a bad hypo 2 weeks ago where we had to use gluco gel she has been diagnosed for 2 years and never used it before. Her hypos are so unpredictable she can be sky high them be in her 3's.

Basically, when you are asked to stand up, all the blood that was in your legs and gravity-dependent areas now need to go all the way up to the heart. In which case, your calf muscles will massage your veins and propulse the blood all the way up. As this is not always done instantly, you might a little period of time where you get dizzy and have visual problems. That is best explained by the very temporary (and not dangerous) decrease in blood to your brain.
