Hi All,
Here's a link to the 800 calorie diet that is being trialled at various places (Newcastle University & in London also).
http://www.ncl.ac.uk/magres/research/diabetes/documents/StudyRecipes.pdf
I volunteered for the trials in London but was turned down because I take non-diabetes related medication.
I wanted to ask if anyone has been put on this diet by their GP (as far as I know the Optifast stuff can only be got on prescription) and if so, how did you get on with it.
I found it interesting that this diet specifically says that starchy vegetables should be avoided. I don't think I was ever advised to do that ....

Hi @MikeV I haven't tried it because the last vlc diet I went on caused me health problems but several others including @Pipp and @Andrew Colvin have had great success with them - I believe that Pipp used a liquid diet but Andrew devised a variant vlc using 'proper' food.

Quite a number of people have adopted the VLC approach to kick starting their diabetes treatments. If you search on the forum for Newcastle Diet, I'm sure you'll fine a few threads, with various people discussing their approaches and results.
