Hi I'm trying to reduce my carb intake so last night had a low carb tea. Slept for about 7 hours. Got up but had really low energy all day. Had 3 hours sleep this afternoon and felt better. Had another low carb tea tonight and could probably go straight to sleep when I hit my pillow later. I've not checked my sugars but I'm wondering, is this common when you start off low carbing?
I have been low carbing since the start of the year. The results have been fantastic with both my BG Levels and weight.
I definitely felt a loss of energy early on and at different times and also felt the cold a lot more. While I don't know your diet you could try adding some more fat to lift your energy.
Also I recommend you test each morning before eating so you can measure the impact of your low carbing.
Good luck with it and as usual ask the questions as you go along
@Shazza41 have you posted your low carb food diary on the, low carb what have you eaten today , thread? Perhaps there is something that has caused a sugar spike. I use myfitnesspal too to log my food so that I can track my carb and calorie intake. Do you have a meter? It may be an idea to check your bs 1 hour and then 2 hours after tour meal
@Shazza41 Are you eating more fat to replace the energy from eating low carb? You might need to increase your healthy fat consumption - cream, cheese. butter, nuts, avocados, pate are good fats.
