I had low-fat natural yoghurt and rasperries for breakfast today but for a change added 20gms of Lizi's Original granola for the first time. It was quite delightful!Synonym said:..........I love my yoghurt, fruit and seeds etc which I usually have but sometime crave a crunch - if you know what I mean?! Something to get your teeth into.

Hi KiwiScot - It's good to meet you!KiwiScot said:Liz's Granola sounds the biz only trouble for me is that i live in NZ and i have never came across it here. I usually have porridge in the morning, sometimes with a sweetener and when i tested 2 hours later i was spiking to 16! I tried it with cinnamon sprinkled on top and it lowered a little but still spiking to 15. All cereals seem to be the same for me so the low carb discussions are interesting and hopefully i can get some good ideas on here.
Hi again KiwiScot,KiwiScot said:Thanks John, a lot to think on and some changes to be made though i cant get Liz's Granola, i even emailed her and asked if they sent it to NZ and she said no lol, och well bacon it is for breaky
Thanks Synonym, its very much the same as the one i got from clearwater which i made up yesterday and tried, it was fine and no spike! which i always get with cereal. I couldnt find pecan, almonds and walnuts in chopped form so i had to get into them with a meat tenderiser  But what i have found already is that in the 3 days that ive cut down on carbs by having no cereal, bread, potatoes etc my BG count is excellent for the first time in a decade, having between 4 and 5.5 before meals and under 8 2 hours after, i cant remember ever have such good results. What i need to do is get into the recipe section to keep a varied diet going, esp what to take in a packed lunch to work with me. It was always sandwiches so i need some good ideas on that. Thanks againSynonym said:Hi Kiwiscot
I will put the low carb granola recipe that I was given on to the recipe thread. You can adjust it to taste and put in what you fancy but it is a good base to start from.
Ive started doing that john, i had some chicken drumsticks and salad. So far i havnt missed having bread at lunch time and i have not had any bread since low carbing. I made a box of alisons granola recipe and its a great start to the day and my sugars dont spike at at all. I have noticed that my first reading in the morning before eating is always higher than my last reading before bedJohn aka Wallycorker said:Great news about the improved results!
What about meat, fish or cheese for lunch with a mixed box of salad items for lunch?
John
