Dr. Eric Westman - 'Clinical Experience using LCHF in a Medical Setting':

Interesting stuff on McCardle Disease, I had never heard of it. Scary, though, about the SGLT2s + Keto.

Good afternoon (?) Indy. I've not long finished viewing this presentation and posted a stand alone thread with the link. As many of us suffer to some degree with chronic pain I found it fascinating and wanted to make sure that any member putting 'chronic pain' into the search bar gets as many hits as possible. What did you make of the video? The vitD connection was new info for me.

I didn't rewatch the video as I saw it when it was originally screened, so my recollection of the details is a bit vague now.

My personal history with D3 has been very positive. I was diagnosed with deficiency at the same time I was diagnosed with Type 2 and hypothyroid. The first difference supplementing made for me was that I could exercise again and lose weight - I'd been having problems with both. Also huge effect on mood. I didn't notice much change with pain until I started supplementing with K2 as well. I think the combination of low carb, weight loss, D3 and K2 all made a huge difference to my lower back pain and tendinopathies. I think the K2 may be helping with the soft tissue calcifications. I still have issues with trochanteric bursitis (esp in left hip), but the lower back pain is so much better and I had suffered with that for many years previously.

I had thought of supplementing but had seen so many differing quotes on dosage that I thought I would be wasting money by not taking a high enough dose or risking my health by taking too much. Now I will look into magnesium, D3 and K2. If I can swap out some/all of my pain meds for supplements I will be a happy bunny..

Yes, forgot to mention that I've been supplementing magnesium as well.
If you're looking for pain relief, another winning combination is tumeric and boswellia - at one stage I was taking that combined with magnesium in powdered form. I've also taken the tumeric/boswellia combination in tablet form also.

Cheers, lass.

An honest account all round, I thought. I like Brukner's style.

Low Carb Breckenridge 2018 - Q&A Day 1 Afternoon Session:

Steve has a very interesting take on PIR and salt. Great point on protein, too. Nina's point on changing the guidelines is true but it does seem like an overwhelming target when one thinks about just how much influence Big Food has on said guidelines. I'm with Wolfe on how to tackle it but who has the $$$ to start a class action? Having read the recent NEWSBOT piece on Milk Shakes and Freakshakes (Freakshake being a cross between a milkshake and a dessert and with an eye watering 39 teaspoons of sugar per serving!) if I had the dosh these would be my first targetted foodstuffs as the manufacturers clearly cater to the youngsters.
